Baby Seth Portraits

After a few months of rescheduling due to weather and various illnesses (both him and me, actually), I finally got to photograph this little bundle of fun. The session lasted about an hour and twenty minutes before Seth had enough with me and my camera in his face. In that time I shot just under 900 frames! I made sure that I had the proper batteries in my D300 to give me 9 frames per second; you want to increase your chances of getting that great shot as much as you can. I processed the photos and had them ready to deliver on DVD in just over 2 weeks. This was due to my excitement for working on photos of this cute little guy. Can’t wait for more photo shoots with this one!!

The Hammond Family

I shot these portraits of the Hammond family down in Huntington Beach, just north of the pier… where they live just one block from the sand. Tammy and Alfonso were married in this same area on the beach, so they really wanted the family photos done there.

At first I was a bit concerned about the possible cluttered background; people on the beach, surfers walking by, etc. They explained to me that they didn’t mind having people in the background, that they actually would like it better to have some of that in the shots. So, I did my best to capture background elements that showed the surroundings… to give them a more personal feel for them.

You may recognize Lexi from her Senior portraits that I shot a few months ago.

Danny the Engineer

This is Danny’s second shoot with me, I previously did his one-year-old shots last summer, when he was all decked out with his Yankee gear. For this year’s two-year-old shots, Danny was all about the trains. We went out to a local train museum where they had lots of full-sized train engines and cars. The guy was a trooper since it was over 100 degrees and he had his overalls and a hat on! He gets credit from me for having a smile in so many of these shots, that’s for sure.

Senior Portraits: Lexi

A few weeks back, I shot some senior portraits for Lexi. Her mom said that they were so un-impressed with the studio shots they had done prior to contacting me, and wanted to try some location shots. I took her to the old downtown part of Santa Ana, where there are some really cool alley ways and brick buildings. Her shots turned out really good, I think. Lexi and her mom where very pleased with them.

Chris & Nuran : Engagement

Had a great engagement session with my friends sister, Nuran and her fiance, Chris. I enjoyed hearing Chris tell the story of taking Nuran on a hike up to the local Saddleback Mountains where he proposed to her overlooking the valleys and Orange County below. I’m looking forward to shooting their wedding this coming October.

Joy & Jer: Engagement Shots

I had the best time shooting engagement photos for Johanna and Jeremiah. They were truly fun to be around and I think we all had a great time. They loved their photos and trusted me enough to hire me for their wedding this past December 11th. Those images I’m still processing and will post as soon as I have them ready. Kelly & Joey: Maternity Shots

Melanie and I have been friends with Kelly for a long time, as well as Joey. And I knew that I’d be called upon to do some maternity shots of them once we found out they were expecting. They’re good peoples and I would do anything for them, at the very least get them some nice shots of the belly before baby arrives. These were taken just a few weeks before the due date, back in October.

Wang Li Designs – Jewelry Product Shots

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I did this assignment. A friend of ours has a handmade jewelry company and she needed some product shots for her web site: www.wanglidesigns.com. Since I needed some good practice, as well as some portfolio samples for commercial work, I did the work pro-bono.

I do remember that she had about 50-60 pieces, and wanted modeled shots as well as studio. Well, it turns out that she had some model friends, so that worked out for the posed shots of the pieces being worn. And, I set up a small rig in my kitchen which consisted of PCV pipe, a white sheet, and two shop lights. In the end, I’m proud of the outcome.

Danny the slugger

A few weeks back I had a session with a 13 month-old toddler named Danny. He and his folks are way into the NY Yankees so I asked his mom to bring along his baseball cap and we’d try to get some shots on a local field. Not only did he have his Yankees cap, he also had a mini baseball bat that we had him use while we shot. Here are some shots from that session.
