I shot these portraits of the Hammond family down in Huntington Beach, just north of the pier… where they live just one block from the sand. Tammy and Alfonso were married in this same area on the beach, so they really wanted the family photos done there.

At first I was a bit concerned about the possible cluttered background; people on the beach, surfers walking by, etc. They explained to me that they didn’t mind having people in the background, that they actually would like it better to have some of that in the shots. So, I did my best to capture background elements that showed the surroundings… to give them a more personal feel for them.
